About
Mirror is a little tool for Mac OS X intended to be used in presentations: whenever you need to show something on your main screen, you actually have to switch back and forth between separate displays and “hardware mirroring”.
This app will “software mirror” your main screen, so there is no need to turn on/off display mirroring. You can also focus in one application only, something unavailable in hardware mirroring.
§
Instructions
- Download Mirror.
- Connect your second monitor, disable hardware mirror in System Preferences/Displays.
- Start Mirror, check the ”Auto place in secondary display”.
- Start your Keynote/OpenOffice presentation. When you need to show your main screen, no need to turn on mirroring!

Version 1.0.0 Features
- Mirror your main screen inside a macbook-like frame, that will automatically fill your secondary monitor.
- Change preferences in the Mirror Inspector window. For example, change the frame text to “Learning rails”
- You can focus on a particular application. To do that, hit Control+Option+Command+Space while other app but Mirror is active (ex: Terminal). Mirror will display only the current application window on the secondary display
- A red highlight around the current application will let you know which part of the screen is being displayed.
- Mirror is actually way more CPU intensive than hardware mirroring, if you have performance issues try to reduce the capturing frequency. If your presentation is GPU intensive, please try Mirror with whatever you want to show before the real presentation.

History & Contributing
The first Mirror version was conceptualized, developed (and used live in a real presentation!) in bare 2 days while I was preparing a keynote about Cocoa and Objective-C and was tired of turning on/off the mirror display setting.
The 1.0 version was released a couple of months later… after it got automatic updates, a decent home page, a little better performance, and some other minor enhancements.
